Shreyans Kumat’s Wikipedia and Biography
Shreyans Kumat is a management consultant from the Rajasthani city of Ajmer. He did his schooling in nearby Kishangarh he score 94.2% in class 10th exam and 92.2% in 12th or higher secondary exam and completed his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from IIT-B. After completing his studies, he worked for Ernst & Young as a management consultant. During his second year at the firm, Shreyans started thinking about applying for the Civil Services. He also attended various courses like Good Governance Yatar, Vippasanna, etc., and he secured AIR 4 in his first attempt.
During his time at IIT Bombay, Shreyans had an opportunity to work as a mechanical engineer. He then went on to crack the UPSC exam in his first attempt. Before starting his preparation, Shreyans made sure that he understood the syllabus thoroughly and read major reference books. In fact, he quit his job to concentrate on his UPSC preparation. That’s because he was a bit overwhelmed by the competition.

His motivation for the UPSC exam
Shreyans Kumat has a great motivation for the UPSC exam. This young man hails from Kishangarh, Rajasthan. He studied mechanical engineering and graduated with a remarkable mark of 8.41c from IIT Bombay. After completing his graduation, he got a high-paying job in the private sector. While traveling, he met various government officials and this interaction sparked his interest in civil services. It didn’t hurt that his grandfather, who was a former IAS officer, always wished for him to pursue his dreams. Though he did not push him to pursue his dream, he remained focused and persistent.
After joining a coaching institute, Shreyans began preparing notes from online sources and NCERTs. She also thoroughly researched past question papers and the UPSC question pattern. She studied the NCERTs first and prepared notes accordingly. She also had group discussions and solved map-based questions to help her answer questions correctly. This helped her to focus on the exam and maximize her efficiency and concentration.

In his quest to become an IAS officer, Shreyans Kumat had several goals in mind. In addition to earning a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from IIT-Bombay, he also wanted to join the government. He decided to pursue civil services after meeting various government officials in his travels. His grandfather, who retired as an IAS officer, had always wished for his grandson to enter the civil service. Although he did not push his grandson, he did encourage him to work towards that goal.
Shreyans decided to join a coaching institute and studied the previous five years of UPSC papers to get a clearer picture of the exam structure. He also practised answering the questions using UPSC’s official answer keys. Practising the writing of answers during the actual exam timings helped him increase his efficiency and concentration level. After completing his coaching, Shreyans joined Vajiram and Ravi Coaching Institute and cracked the UPSC exam on his first attempt.
How did he prepare for Prelims?

Art and culture- for this he followed the online process, he visited a website called gktoday, and he followed the gktoday modules and class 11th ncert + vajiram notes.
Geography-He told us that he read class 11th and 12th ncert and he compiles with the vajiram notes and he use to see youtube videos on mrunal youtube channel.
Economy- Again he uses youtube as a source of information he shaw mrunal youtube channel and class 12th ncert and vajiram notes.
Science and Tech– He read the newspaper The Hindu for current affairs and follows news on science and technology.
Polity- He read laxmikant for this subject with Rabindra sir notes in vajiram and he revises them again and again.
Environment and Ecology – He uses Shankar ias book for basic knowledge and he uses a website like UNDP and UNEP websites for gather information on this topic.
Current affairs- As like other students he uses the Hindu newspaper for that and he watches youtube videos for current affairs on only ias youtube channel.
How did he Prepare for Mains?
Gs1- He told us that most of the parts were covered in prelims so he did not worry about this paper. For history, he makes notes on different topics and for society, he uses basic ncert from class 11th to 12th. He tries to keep the answer better than average and he uses current affairs and facts he includes in the answer writing. He attends to every question for that he practices with a stopwatch.
Gs2- He uses Lakshmi Kant notes and Vision IAS notes and modules. He explained that for this paper current affairs is one of the important factors. For international relations, he totally depends on current affairs and he uses the mea.gov.in website for International relationships.
gs3- for both economics and agriculture he uses basic materials like current affairs notes, for disaster management he read prefers the Hindu newspaper.
Gs4- HE uses vajirao notes and makes notes on different topics and prefers case studies when he writes the answers.
His advice to aspirants
Among Shreyans’ advice to aspirants is to stay positive throughout the exam process. He suggests that you should try to incorporate meditation in your daily routine.
