They have four family members in her house including her and she feels that without their support she couldn’t get this achievement. Her parents both are medical officers who served in the Himachal government.
Her father helps- Her father helps her in studying, SHe told us that her father also read those books that Gamini reads for her UPSC preparation and her father tries to understand what was important chapters for this examination even though her father underlines the important news in the newspaper.
Her mother helps- Her mother helps her emotionally and financially. She told us that being a doctor and corona warrior her mother manage so well and she keep motivating and pushing her to prepare well for this examination.
Her brother helped- She explained that her brother was an IIT graduate electric engineer. when she failed to clear her first prelims examination her brother and she sat together and try to understand where is she lacking and they make strategies together on how to clear this UPSC examination.
When did she think to give UPSC examination?
When she is in the class 6th stander her father used to tell her about IAS officers what they do, and how they work even she use to write that she wants to become an IAS officer in her every slam book so It is her childhood dream. In 2019, the last year of her college, she starts preparing for the UPSC examination.
What are Gamini Singal’s 10th and 12th percentages and her educational background?
Her 10th stander percentage was 95% and she score 97% in her 12th stander. She cleared her computer science engineering degree with a 9.2 CGPA. She told us that since childhood she is a very bright student, she always found her name among the toppers even though she want to become first in her school. She completed her schooling at Mount Carmel school and she completed her graduation degree from Punjab engineering college Chandigarh in the year 2019.
How many attempts did she take to clear this examination?
She took two attempts to clear the UPSC examination. In the year 2020, she took her first attempt on the UPSC examination but unfortunately she could not clear the prelims examination, again in the year 2021 she took another attempt at the UPSC examination, and this time she cleared this examination with AIR 3 rank all over India.
How does she handle her failure and negativity?
After giving the prelims examination on her first attempt she understand that she could not pass this examination, At that time she feels demotivated, so she told her parents about that, her parents support her and told her not to be demotivated and to try again next year. She finds out where she is lacking and she fixed them.
What is her daily schedule in the UPSC preparation phase?
She wakes up at 5.00 am early in the morning. at 5.30 am she started her preparation till 10 am after that she took breaks of half an hour. From 10.30 am to 11 am she studied then she took another half an hours break then again she start her preparation at 11.30 to 1 pm then she took another break of 1 hour, around 2 pm she again start her preparation till 5 pm then she took a break and go outside for a walk. again start her preparation at 7.30 pm to 10.30 pm. (she told us you have to discipline at your work this is the main factor in the UPSC preparation)
Did she quit social media when she was preparing for the UPSC examination?
She told us that she quiets her social media accounts, especially Facebook and Instagram but she uses the internet as her source of information, she uses whats app throughout entire her preparation.
Did Gamini Singla take coaching for UPSC?
No, she did not take any coaching for UPSC preparation she crack this examination by preparing at home. She comes to old Rajendra Nagar Delhi only for her mock test in Unacademy. She believes that anyone can crack this examination without coaching she also added mock test is very important.
Which newspaper did she prefer for UPSC preparation?
She read The Hindu newspaper for her entire UPSC preparation. She starts her newspaper reading habit in her college days. She told us that this habit of reading the newspaper is help her a lot in current affairs.
